Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long do lash extensions last?

A: An untouched set of eyelash extensions should last no longer than 4-6 weeks, gradually shedding in that time. False lashes staying adhered to your lashes or skin longer than this are damaging your natural lashes. (see corrective work photos at bottom of lash extension page) Lash extensions applied properly can last indefinitely. Maintaining them requires refills every 2-3 weeks as they shed and regenerate naturally.

Q: How often do I need to get refills?

A: Refills should be done every 2-3 weeks to maintain your lashes looking full and beautiful. After 3 weeks, more than 50% of your lashes have shed.

Q: Do lash extensions damage my natural eyelashes?

A: When applied incorrectly...absolutely yes. I have seen clients with permanent lash loss due to poorly applied lash extensions. Your lash extensions should be applied with zero interruption to the natural growth cycle of lashes. Meaning, if any of your natural lashes are glued together, or the hair follicles are blocked or damaged in any way, you are causing damage to your natural lashes. I guarantee my work does neither.

Q: How long does the initial full set and refills take?

A: The initial full set takes anywhere between 2-3 hours depending on the type, and amount of lashes a client naturally has. On some clients I am applying upwards of 300 lashes per eye, whereas others 150 per eye. So it does vary quite a bit from person to person. Refills can be 30 min, 1 hour, or 1.5 hours.

Q: Are lash extensions permanent?

A: No. The only permanent lash enhancement that exists is a surgical eyelash transplant and to be blunt..it looks terrifying...google it!

Q: Can I shower, workout and go swimming normally?

A: Yes.  After the initial 24hrs after your full set or refill, yes!

Q: Is it normal for my eyes to hurt after getting my lashes done?

A: No. You should feel zero discomfort at any point during or after properly applied lash extensions.

Q: I'm allergic to lash glue. Do you use glue for sensitive eyes?

A: 99% of what is interpreted as a "glue allergy" is not. The very common "glue allergy'" is almost always a reaction to lash extensions being applied too close to the eyelid skin and is actually causing puncture wounds to the lid..not an allergy. I have been applying eyelash extensions for 11 years and of every client that was told had a glue allergy or experienced redness and puffiness from previous lash extensions, did not have any reaction whatsoever once I properly applied their set of lash extensions.

Q: My lash extensions look great when I leave my stylist, but get so twisted and unruly between refills. Why?

A: Your lash extensions are not separated properly. Remember that your natural lashes are always growing at different speeds. So if they are stuck together, they are pulling each other all over the place and there is no way the lash extensions can stay neat and straight.

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have as a first time or existing lash client, or addressing any concerns you may have about lashes you currently have on applied by another lash stylist. I will always be transparent and honest about your options and expectations. Just shoot me  a text or an email at info@eyesbyanais.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
